I sculpt wood by forming a partnership with the piece that I am designing, much like when two dancers work together by synchronizing their movements. In so, I make a series of decisions that merge my creative ideas with the qualities and characteristics of the medium. My work is not meant to present abstract concepts or hidden messages; rather, through the use of flowing, rhythmic lines applied to the wood form, it is intended to elicit a mood or feeling within the viewer on a more visceral level as opposed to a conscious, cerebral one.
